Sheringham is a seaside town in the north of Norfolk, not far from the popular resort of Cromer. It has a wide variety of shops and a popular market. Transport facilities are good, with mainline rail access, and attractions include a preserved steam railway. You can search a variety of cottages and holiday lets on Go2 both in Sheringham and in nearby towns. Follow the links to find holiday cottages and lets available in this area on Go2, or view the surrounding area on the map below.
Taking a break in one of our holiday cottages in Norfolk is the ideal way to explore this atmospheric and historic county. The coastline is the major attraction here, with miles of sandy beaches stretching from historic King’s Lynn all the way round to Great Yarmouth, famous for its Golden Mile and multitude of seaside attractions and entertainments. Cromer (noted for its crabs and pier), Sheringham and Hunstanton are also firm family favourites. If you prefer something quieter during your stay in one of our holiday cottages in Norfolk, try the North Norfolk Coast, a designated Area of Natural Beauty and a haven for walkers and birdwatchers. Venture inland and you’ll discover a gently rolling landscape dotted with flint cottages and ancient churches.
The county town of Norwich is one of England’s best-preserved cities and is a joy to wander around. Don’t miss a visit to the magnificent cathedral towering above the surrounding medieval streets. East of the city lie the Norfolk Broads, a vast expanse of interconnected lakes and waterways which has long been a firm favourite with sailors. Hire a boat for a day to see them at their best. Less well-known are the mysterious Brecks, a wilderness area of heaths and forests and one of the least-populated parts of the country.

Travelling to or from Ireland? Don't forget the ferry! Not only does it give you
the freedom of taking your own car but it provides a superb experience of travelling
by sea and exploring the coastline. With convenient routes between Holyhead and Dublin, or Pembroke and Rosslare, we recommend
Irish Ferries for great, low-cost, transport. They are the leading Irish ferry company and provide both an excellent service, and excellent prices.

User Guides
Sheringham has much to offer. The town has a main high street with a range of shops and restuarants, which leads to the promenade and beach. From the seafront, walkers can enjoy good coastal routes along scenic cliff tops. The town also has a small theatre, and some small amusement arcades - but only a couple and is in no way like other brash seaside resorts. Indeed, the impression I have had on my visits is that the town appeals more to retired visitors ! Nearby to the town is the attractive Sheringham Park, owned by the National Trust. Another highlight is the preserved railway which terminates at the small town on Holt - a journey lasting around 30 minutes. Often, steam trains operate on this line. There is also a second railway station, the mainline route where you can travel to nearby Cromer, and beyond - to Wroxham and then onto Norwich. All in all, a good base to stay and explore the north Norfolk coastal area. Cliff, Cranfield 24 October 2011
