The City of Bath, in Somerset, is world-famous as a Spa Town, notable for its Roman Baths. Steeped in history the city boasts fine architecture, numerous tourist attractions of note, and a varied selection of shops and restaurants. Accommodation is well provided for, as is transport, with good train, bus and car links.
Not only is Bath itself worth a visit, but it's an excellent base for a holiday in Somerset with many other towns, attractions and beautiful countryside within easy reach. Follow the links to find holiday cottages and lets available in this area on Go2, or view the surrounding area on the map below.
With its lovely beaches beautiful countryside and fascinating history, dating back to the times of the Ancient Britons, Somerset makes a wonderful cottage holiday destination. And the best way to experience the county’s many attractions is from your base in one of our holiday cottages in Somerset. Bath has some of Britain’s most majestic Georgian architecture, as well as the famous Roman Baths (not mention great shopping). Then there’s Wells, England’s smallest city. Wandering around the cathedral close, with its unspoilt medieval lanes is like taking a step back in time. And for a real sense of mystery, there’s Glastonbury (home of the world-famous music festival), supposedly the site of King Arthur’s mythical Avalon. All await you on one of our Somerset cottage holidays. The county has more than its fair share of beach resorts too. The Grand Pier at Weston-Super-Mare is superb, as is the wide beach here, while Minehead and Burnham-on-Sea offer a choice of traditional seaside pleasures. Meanwhile, for nature lovers there’s the wild landscape of Exmoor, and the Mendip and Quantock Hills, both Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Cheddar Gorge is truly stunning. Great for real Cheddar cheese too!

Travelling to or from Ireland? Don't forget the ferry! Not only does it give you
the freedom of taking your own car but it provides a superb experience of travelling
by sea and exploring the coastline. With convenient routes between Holyhead and Dublin, or Pembroke and Rosslare, we recommend
Irish Ferries for great, low-cost, transport. They are the leading Irish ferry company and provide both an excellent service, and excellent prices.

User Guides
Bath is a wonderful place to visit, especially if you like history. The Roman baths themselves are of course a 'must see' and for the best experience we'd suggest taking a guided open top bus tour (not cheap, but worth it). Mr P, Honiton 13 September 2011
