Weymouth is a seaside town in Dorset, England, which is very popular with those interested in sailing. It is situated not far from Charlestown, Portland, Chickerell, Osmington, and Dorchester and is one of over 130 towns and villages in Dorset in which Go2 has cottages or holidays lets available. The closest official cities are Wells (population 10,406), Bath (population 90,144), and Bristol (which has a population of 420,556 according to the 2001 Census). Follow the links to find holiday cottages and lets available in this area on Go2, or view the surrounding area on the map below.
With a wide and varied selection of cottages and holiday lets in Dorset Go2 offers you the ideal way to make the most of your break in this beautiful and largely unspoilt county, where there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
Dorset’s Jurassic Coast is a World Heritage Site, with dramatic coves and stunning cliffs, topped by the South West Coast Path, which offers some wonderful views. Here you’ll find characterful seaside towns like Swanage and Lyme Regis as well as the wide sweep of Weymouth Beach. If you’re looking for somewhere more lively, then Bournemouth won’t disappoint. This is one of Britain’s most popular resorts and has attractions and entertainments in abundance. Nearby Poole is quieter, but still has much to offer. Try and make the trip to Brownsea Island, a fabulous nature reserve here. Inland on your holiday in Dorset you can enjoy the rolling hills that are so characteristic of the county and explore what has become known as “Thomas Hardy Country”.
The county town of Dorchester, with its High Street lined with 17th and 18th Century houses, is little changed from Hardy’s day, while the pretty town of Shaftesbury has been used as a location in countless films set in Olde England.

Travelling to or from Ireland? Don't forget the ferry! Not only does it give you
the freedom of taking your own car but it provides a superb experience of travelling
by sea and exploring the coastline. With convenient routes between Holyhead and Dublin, or Pembroke and Rosslare, we recommend
Irish Ferries for great, low-cost, transport. They are the leading Irish ferry company and provide both an excellent service, and excellent prices.

Weymouth is somewhere I can't remember having visited before, but we paid a visit there on Monday to see the Sea Life Park. As our time was spent at the park I can't comment too much on the rest of Weymouth, but I can certainly say that it is worth visiting for Sea Life alone. Monday was a very wet day, but despite this we had a great time exploring the various exhibits at the park. The boys loved the sharks, turtles, crabs, alligators... and rides (there is a very WET water flume type ride.... be prepared to get soaked!). The tunnel under the shark/turtle tank gives a great view.
Even despite the rain we had a great day, but on a sunny day the park would be even better - there is a 'splash about' pool that children can play as well as other playground activities. Well worth a visit (but be sure to look around for vouchers to bring the entrance fee down :-) ). IP, Honiton 12 April 2012
